Video Marketing Trends In 2017

Live Video-

In 2016, Facebook Live started a wildfire in the marketing world that‘s still raging today. With the ease & immediacy of point & shoot videography from your cell phone; telling your story & getting real-time feedback is a snap! Videos don’t need to be “slick” with over the top post-production (& the associated high production costs), as audiences feel the rawness of this kind of video is more believable & trustworthy. A cautionary tale however, is that “cheap” production without a clear message or marketing strategy will never achieve the impact of a well thought out campaign. As we always say "Content is (still) King!"

360°/Virtual Reality Video-

360° & Virtual Reality (VR) technology has evolved at breakneck speed over the course of 2016 & is now ripe to make a real difference in the marketing world. Being able to immerse your audience in your story at any time & in any place they choose- say at 11 pm in their living room- helps create lasting memories for your audience, & thankfully you don’t have to keep your business open around the clock to give them a tour of your facility. Look for more small & mid-size companies taking this technology & featuring it in its line of marketing strategies as the technology gets more refined & more cost-effective.

Precise/Personalized Videos for Specific Audiences-

Social media metrics, especially with the Google/YouTube metric dump in late 2016, spell out exactly who is watching what, where, & when. This means you can hit your target audience with surgical precision. Now you don’t have to water down a highly technical video because your audience is so broad – you can market DIRECTLY to those Mechanical Engineers in your exclusive audience. So go ahead & use those specialized acronyms, specs, and verbiage with confidence!

Visually heavy videos/Captions-

As more people access the internet on their phones, from ANYWHERE, the need for visually heavy (NO SOUND) videos is a must. Motion graphics will convey the message graphically, or video captions will be front & center, so people will still understand your message without having to turn up the volume.
